John C. Mowen is Regents' Professor and the Noble Chair of Marketing Strategy at Oklahoma State University. He holds a Ph.D. in social psychology from Arizona State University where he did post-doctoral work in marketing. Currently, John is the Immediate Past-President of the Society for Consumer Psychology. His research focuses on the motivational processes that influence consumer, employee, and managerial behavior. He has published over 50 referred articles in journals including the Journal of Marketing Research, the Journal of Marketing, the Journal of Consumer Psychology, the Journal of Public Policy and Marketing, the Journal of Applied Psychology, and Decision Sciences. In addition to Consumer Behavior: A Framework, he is author of the textbook Consumer Behavior (5th Edition, Prentice-Hall, Inc. 1998) and the non-fiction trade book, The Art of High-Stakes Decision-Making,, which is forthcoming October 2001. Professor Mowen has consulted with numerous companies and served as an expert witness for Fortune 500 companies. John is an avid golfer and water gardener. |

Michael S. Minor is a Professor of Marketing and International Business and Department Chair at the Michael S. Minor is a Professor of Marketing and International Business and Department Chair at the University of Texas-Pan American. He holds a Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University and did other graduate work at American University, Cornell University, and Oklahoma State University. His research focuses on group influences on consumer behavior, marketing strategy, and international business issues. He has published nearly two dozen articles in journals, including the Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Consumer Marketing, International Studies of Management and Organization, and Journal of Services Marketing. In addition to Essentials of Consumer Behavior, he is coauthor of the textbook Consumer Behavior (5th edition, Prentice_Hall, Inc., 1998) and of the forthcoming International Business (Irwin-McGraw Hill, 2002). His consulting experience includes work for the United Nations and he lived in Asia for a number of years. |
